A brief devotional
There are days when life feels like a sudden snowstorm—quiet one moment, blinding the next. You think you’ve already shoveled this driveway of worry, grief, or exhaustion… and then the wind shifts, and it all piles up again.
When storms return, it’s easy to wonder if you’ve failed, if you’re back at the beginning, or if God has stepped away. But Scripture reminds us that returning storms don’t mean lost progress. They mean God is preparing to reveal His strength in a fresh way.
🌬️ 1. Storms don’t erase God’s nearness
Even when visibility drops, His presence doesn’t.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Snow may muffle sound, but it cannot silence God’s voice. He is near—closer than the cold, closer than the fear.
🌨️ 2. Storms don’t cancel God’s purpose
A setback is not a reversal. It’s often a deepening.
“The steps of a man are established by the Lord… though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.” — Psalm 37:23–24
You may slip, but you are not abandoned. God steadies you even when the ground feels uncertain.
🌤️ 3. Storms don’t last forever
Every winter carries the promise of thaw.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5
The storm may return, but so will the sunrise. God has already scheduled your clearing skies.
🌱 4. Storms can reveal what’s growing beneath
Snow hides the ground, but it also nourishes it. Some of God’s best work happens unseen.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
Stillness isn’t stagnation. It’s sacred space where God strengthens roots.
❄️ A Closing Prayer
Lord, when storms return and I feel buried again, remind me that You are near, You are steady, and You are working in ways I cannot yet see. Give me courage to wait, strength to stand, and hope to believe that joy is already on its way. Amen.
