There are moments in the Christian life when grace feels like sunrise.
You do not command it. You do not summon it. You simply wake—and light is already pouring through the window.
This is the mystery of God’s initiating love. Before we called His name, He was already speaking ours. Before we reached for Him, He had already taken hold of us. Before we understood anything of salvation, the Spirit was already stirring the deep waters of our hearts.
This is grace as gift, grace as first movement, grace as God’s work alone.
And yet—once the light fills the room, something beautiful happens.
You rise. You open the curtains wider. You step into the day that has been given. You walk with the One who awakened you.
This is grace as invitation, grace as companionship, grace as shared journey.
Scripture holds these two truths like a pair of cupped hands:
- “God made us alive…”
- “Walk in the Spirit.”
- “It is God who works in you…”
- “…work out your salvation.”
- “You did not choose me…”
- “Abide in me.”
Salvation begins with God’s breath in our lungs, but the Christian life unfolds as we learn to breathe with Him.
Not as equals. Not as co-authors of redemption. But as beloved children learning the rhythm of our Father’s heart.
Grace awakens. Faith responds. Love grows in the space between.
And in that holy space— the space where God works and we walk— we discover that the Christian life is not a puzzle to solve but a relationship to receive, a companionship to cherish, a dance where God always leads and we learn, step by step, to follow.
May we rest in the God who begins the work. May we rise to walk with the God who continues it. And may we trust the God who promises to finish it.
Amen.
